Chalet Coco in Lenk

Since we'd be coming back to Langenthal, we didn't have to do a complete pack up for our trip to Lenk to visit Karin and family (Swiss friends from Phoenix). We left the suitcases and just put our space bags of clothes into the back of the car. Easier, and no vacuuming required.

Switzerland has castles too. We passed this one on the way to Lenk.

A quick stop at a covered bridge to stretch our legs (and go potty)

Karin and Stefan's place in Lenk is a chalet. Their primary home is in Huenenberg See, near Zurich, and they recently built this chalet as a second home. The powers-that-be wouldn't let them build a second home in Lenk unless it was a vacation business, so they made the downstairs a 4-star apartment that is available for rent, and they live in the upper two stories when they stay here.

The kids, Linda and Robin, named the chalet Coco. You know, after the monkey in the children's books. You know, the monkey owned by the Man in the Yellow Hat. "You mean Curious George?" we asked. No, here his name is Coco. Okay, sounds good. Chalet Curious George doesn't have the same ring to it, does it?

The road from Lenk up to the Chalet is steep in places, and only one-lane, but a few of the corners have mirrors so you can see if someone is coming. A few strategic pullover spots help you scoot by if you come across a car going the other way.

Chalet Coco is the light brown one just left of center

The view from the chalet is breathtaking. You feel compelled to just keep taking pictures of it, but nothing beats experiencing it.

Karin and Stefan have a dog, Polo, who loves to fetch sticks. Bella and Alex wasted no time playing with him, and Polo was happy to oblige.

I made mashed potatoes to add to their hamburger patties and peas and corn. Then we watched the World Cup final match.

Stefan got out the game Tipp-Kick, a cool table-top soccer game. We have not yet scheduled our Tipp-Kick tournament.
