Viking Day

Today, the four of us drove to a Viking fair near Hobro, about 45 minutes from Arhus.

Cristina learns about a different kind of knitting with handmade needles of cow bone.

Chilling in a Viking storage hut.

Those Vikings knew how to build playgrounds!

We learned a new game, Hnefatafl. Kind of an early version of chess. I decided to make my own board and pieces at some point.

This woman was baking flatbread. She spoke English and had cute dimples.

The chain mail was very heavy!

Bella with a creepy wooden Viking woman.

Danish horse race. No one wins, no one loses!

Another location had the remains of an old fortress, and some vendor tents. Bella and Alex had a little one-on-one combat.

On the way back to Arhus, we stopped at a grocery store called Kiwi to get some snacks. Cristina bought some lay-on chocolate, though I advised her against it because we thought we were going to the beach before home, and I was afraid it would melt. But we ditched the beach idea and bought the chocolate. We have our priorities.
